e-Natural Disasters Volunteer Handbook
Erasmus+ KA210-YOU · Co-funded by the European Union
The e-Natural Disasters Volunteer Handbook is one of the key outputs of the RAIN Project, prepared in collaboration with all partner institutions. Rooted in the lessons of the 2023 Kahramanmaraş earthquakes — which claimed more than 55,000 lives and mobilised rescue teams from 21 countries — it serves as a comprehensive guide for building disaster-resilient communities through organised volunteering.
It brings together expertise from Türkiye, Portugal, and Italy, offering practical frameworks for volunteer roles, disaster-preparedness processes, good-practice examples from across partner countries, and strategies for building sustainable volunteer networks at local and transnational levels. The handbook is produced in four languages.
